While Nigerians in Lagos, particular on a street known as Joseph Odunlami, went to church to pray, many others in Zaria and other small cities then took to streets and bush paths...lol...to protest.On this day - July 29th - in 1966: Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, Second Nigerian Head of State and Adekunle Fajuyi, First Military Governor of thenWestern Region, were assassinated by a group of mutinous Northern army soldiers who revolted against Aguiyi-Ironsi government. It is popularly known as the July Counter Coup.
